STARGAZING FOR ROOKIES:
HOW TO SPOT THE ISS

When Phil and Aideen found out that you could easily spot the International Space Station without a telescope, they had to see for themselves. And when they’d seen it, they had to tell Phil’s mum. Not wanting to face the elements, Barbara looked out for the ISS from the comfort of her bed.

WHAT’S RED, GREEN AND FLASHING ALL OVER? NOT THE ISS.

Spot the ISS: A Handy Diagram

She reckoned she’d seen it, the red and green flashing lights being a dead giveaway.

She most definitely saw a plane.

Don’t do a Barbara, use this tool from NASA to find out when the ISS is going to be visible near you. No flashing lights to look out for here, just a bright white light gliding across the sky.
