Make Summer Awesome: Proper Iced Tea

Summer! Time for drizzly beach holidays, the "ice lolly / lolly ice" debate and unreliable weather. Not exactly the best time of year for hot tea. Never fear, 'tis the season for proper iced tea...

INTRODUCING COLD BREW LEMONADE.

At Tea HQ we're all about doing things properly and keeping it simple - iced tea is no exception. Our friends across the pond drink shed loads of it and the classic combo is always black tea with a bit of citrus. Sadly the closest you get to tea is often just an extract - that's not right, is it? 

We took the American classic and made it our own. All natural ingredients and not a jot of extract in sight.

COLD BREW?!

All the kit you need for awesome iced tea

Absolutely. We found that brewing hot and cooling down does two things. Firstly your iced tea becomes far too bitter and needs a shed load of sugar. Secondly, your brew becomes really cloudy - a sign of using nice leaves, bizarrely.

So we brewed it cold, in the fridge, for 12 hours. It takes a while, but it's absolutely awesome. A crystal clear brew with all the best notes of the tea, the citrus and a gentle sweetness of the vanilla.

Drink up, or mix it through with fresh lemon juice and some honey for Cold Brew Lemonade.

MAKE PLENTY OF IT

400ml {the size of our current teapot} of Cold Brew just doesn't cut it, we needed something bigger. Roll on an 800ml pot, sticking to our tried and tested borosilicate glass design, it's as good in the fridge door as it is on the table on a hot summer's day. Grab a Cold Brew Pot and get cracking.
